The Ordinary Days Count Too

The Ordinary Days Count Too Reflection cover by Nickolene Lurch about gratitude and finding God in everyday moments.

Not every season comes with a big announcement. Sometimes life is just life.

You wake up. Handle your responsibilities. Answer messages. Make dinner. Pay bills. Pray. Laugh a little. Get tired. Go to bed. Then wake up and do it again.

And if we’re not careful, we can start believing nothing meaningful is happening because nothing dramatic is happening. But I’ve started appreciating ordinary days differently.

There’s something beautiful about having a day that doesn’t require survival. A day when nobody calls with bad news. A day when you can sit down, eat something you enjoy, hear someone you love laugh, and simply be present.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

We often celebrate the breakthroughs, answered prayers, promotions, and big moments. We should. But I don’t want to become so focused on extraordinary moments that I miss the gift of an ordinary Tuesday afternoon.

Sometimes the blessing isn’t that something spectacular happened. Sometimes the blessing is that nothing went wrong.

There was food. There was laughter. There was breath in your body. There was God. And that was enough.

I’m learning not to rush past those days anymore. They count too.

Keep flowing on purpose,
Nickolene Lurch
