Life has a way of making us focus on what’s next.
The next goal.
The next opportunity.
The next prayer we’re waiting to see answered.
For a long time, I lived that way. I was always looking ahead, believing that happiness would finally arrive when I reached the next milestone. I thought peace was waiting somewhere in the future.
But God has been teaching me something different. He’s been teaching me to notice today.
To appreciate the quiet mornings.
To smile during difficult seasons.
To celebrate the small victories that no one else sees.
To thank Him for the prayers He’s already answered while I’m still waiting on the ones He hasn’t.
I’ve realized that life isn’t just happening when everything is perfect. It’s happening right now.
Some of my hardest seasons have also become the seasons that shaped me the most. They taught me resilience. They deepened my faith. They reminded me that God’s presence isn’t reserved for mountaintop moments. He walks with us through the valleys too.
There are still days when I don’t understand everything God is doing. There are still prayers I’m waiting to see answered. There are still dreams I’m trusting Him to fulfill.
But I’ve stopped putting my joy on hold.
I’ve learned to laugh while I’m healing.
I’ve learned to worship while I’m waiting.
I’ve learned to trust God even when I can’t trace His hand.
That doesn’t mean every day is easy. It simply means I’ve made the decision that difficult seasons will not steal the gift of today.
Maybe you needed that reminder too.
Don’t spend so much time chasing tomorrow that you forget to embrace today.
Take a deep breath.
Notice the blessings around you.
Celebrate how far you’ve come.
Trust God with what’s ahead.
Your story is still being written, and every chapter matters.
Scripture
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
Thank you for taking a few moments to sit with me today.
Keep flowing with faith, keep growing through every season, and never stop trusting the Author of your story.
Keep flowing on purpose,
Nicki
